"...I am about to do something new. See, I have already begun! Do you not see it? I will make a pathway through the wilderness. I will create rivers in the dry wasteland." Isaiah 43:19

Last week I called the entire church to join the Northview staff and board in circling in prayer the Northview Vision, Children’s Pastor and Facility. We have been praying earnestly for several months for God’s direction, and I am so excited to share with you that God answered our prayers for a wonderful facility last week. The cost of this facility is $4950 per month plus utilities. That’s a savings of $7550 each month for our church! This savings will allow us to fund the ministries for which God has given us a vision! This vision includes our first priority, a Children’s Pastor. God knows who that person is and we’re going to circle them in prayer every day.

Let me retrace the miracle that took place last week. Last Monday, one day after calling the church to focused prayer for Northview’s vision and facility, Tricia and I were driving by the former Passion Church location on NW Expressway, just miles 3 miles west of our current location. I knew that Passion Church had recently merged with a church in Bethany, and after calling their Pastor Steve he told me that it was sitting empty. To make a long story short, we made contact with the owner of the building and inquired about the facility, discussed the lease, and after much prayer and discussion with our Northview Church board we decided God was in this, and that we should move forward with HIS plan.

The lease that we will be assuming from Passion Church will be month to month. Honestly, I wish it was more secure than that, but God is bigger than our uncertainties. It all comes back to our answer to the question God is still asking, “Is there a limit to my power?” Numbers 11:23 (GNT) I, along with our board believe that God will lead us in the coming months to our own piece of property, with an opportunity to build our own fit to purpose building. We just need to keep circling the Northview Facility in prayer every day this year.

Our first experience at our new location will be Sunday, February 5th. That means our last worship experience in our current building will be this Sunday, January 29th. Our desire is to be out of our current building by January 31st to avoid another month of our current rent.

It is important that we all remember that the church is not a building. Northview is not a building. We, the people, are the church! When God gives a vision, He makes provision. We believe that God owns the cattle on a thousand hills. He will provide a facility for a group of passionate Christ followers in NW Oklahoma City who have a bold and courageous vision! We will do our part by taking a step of faith when God calls us to get out of the boat and follow Him at any cost!

Blessed Beyond Measure!

During the months of Oct. and Nov. we will be collecting winter coats and caps of all sizes to be distributed to those in need in our city as the colder months approach.

In addition to our Coat and Cap drive this fall, we will also be adopting families for the holidays. For Thanksgiving, we will be collecting bags with the following items:

A turkey, 2 boxes of instant potatoes, gravy packet, 2 cans of corn, 2 cans of green beans, 2 cans of cream of mushroom, french fried onions, 2 cans of cranberry sauce, pumpkin pie, and 2 bags of stuffing.

On November 20th, bring your yellow bag back to Northview for our combined worship experience at 10:30. After the experience we will all be heading down to OKC Compassion to meet, pray and worship with the families that will be receiving the food bags.

For our Adopt a Family for Christmas, we will be making a list of items needed for the specific families we met with for Thanksgiving and providing them Christmas gifts.

Pick up a bag and more information about our 3 fall SERVE events at the Yellow Bag station located across from the Information Booth in Living Room at NVCC. And remember to bring those yellow bags back with you next Sunday!

C.H.A.I.R.S. (SUGGESTIONS FOR THE HUSBAND TO SHOW LOVE TO HIS WIFE)

C - CONQUEST - YOUR HUSBAND WILL FEEL YOU APPRECIATE HIS DESIRE TO WORK AND ACHIEVE WHEN…

you tell him verbally or in writing that you value his work efforts.

you express your faith in him related to his chosen field.

you listen to his work stories as closely as you expect him to listen to your accounts of what happens in the family.

you see yourself as his helpmate and counterpart and talk with him about this whenever possible.

you allow him to dream as you did when you were dating.

you don't dishonor or subtly criticize his work “in the field” to get him to show more love “in the family.”

H – HIERARCHY - YOUR HUSBAND WILL FEEL YOU APPRECIATE HIS DESIRE TO PROTECT AND PROVIDE WHEN…

you verbalize your admiration of him for protecting you and being willing to die for you.

you praise his commitment to provide for and protect you and the family (he needs to know you don't take this for granted).

you never mock the idea of “looking up to him” as your protector to prevent him from “looking down on you.”

you never, in word or body language, put down his job or how much he makes.

you quietly and respectfully voice concerns about finances and try to offer solutions on where you might be able to cut spending.

A - AUTHORITY – HE WILL FEEL YOU APPRECIATE HIS AUTHORITY AND LEADERSHIP WHEN…

you tell him you are thankful for his strength and enjoy being able to lean on him at times.

you support his self-image as a leader.

you praise his good decisions.

you are gracious if he makes a bad decision.

you disagree with him only in private and honor his authority in front of the kids.

you give your reasons for disagreeing quietly and reasonably, but you never attack his right to lead.

I - INSIGHT – YOUR HUSBAND WILL FEEL YOU APPRECIATE HIS INSIGHT AND COUNSEL WHEN…

you tell him upfront you just need his ear; don't complain to him later that he always tries to “fix” you.

you thank him for his advice without acting insulted or like he doesn't care about your feelings.

you recognize his problem-solving approach as his male brand of empathy.

you counsel him respectfully when you differ with his ideas (you can be right but wrong at the top of your voice).

you sometimes let him “fix things” and applaud his solutions.

you let him know that you believe God created us both for a purpose and that we need each other.

R - RELATIONSHIP – YOUR HUSBAND WILL FEEL YOU VALUE HIS FRIENDSHIP WHEN…

you tell him you like him and you show it (he knows you love him, but he often wonders if you really like him).

you respond to his invitation to engage in recreational activities together or you come along to watch him (you don't have to go every time, but just now and then will energize him more than you realize).

you enable him to open up and talk to you as you do things shoulder to shoulder.

you encourage him to spend time alone, which energizes him to reconnect with you later.

you don't denounce his activities with his male friends to get him to spend more face-to-face time with you. Respect his friendships, and he will be more likely to want you to join him shoulder to shoulder at other times.

S - SEXUALITY – HE WILL FEEL YOU APPRECIATE HIS DESIRE FOR SEXUAL INTIMACY WHEN . . .

you respond to him sexually more often and initiate sex periodically.

you understand he needs sexual release just as you need emotional release.

you let him acknowledge his sexual temptations without fearing he'll be unfaithful and without shaming him.

you don't try to make him open up to you verbally by depriving him of sex.

IT STARTS THIS SUNDAY!!!

This Sunday we're beginning a new message journey together on relationships called, "Rules of Engagement." Have you invited anyone yet?

Remember, today (Friday) and tomorrow you need to make the big "invite" to the person/family God placed on your heart during the "Leave A Mark" series on Sunday, October 3rd. The prayer team has been praying for the over 300 names that you shared with us.

Here's how you can help us continue to get the word out about this Sunday:

Invite friends/family/neighbors/co-workers to church this Sunday. I promise they will hear about Jesus!

Make phone calls.

Send out emails.

Tweet it up.

Update your facebook status about the new series. (this would be a great way to get the word out to thousands of people!)

Take the risk and make the invite! Who knows what God might do?

Praying for Conversations and Invitations,

Trunk or Treat
Sun., Oct. 31
6-8 PM

Trunk or Treat is less than a week away, and there is still time to sign up to help make this an AWESOME experience for our community. There are several ways that you can help. You can sign up your trunk and hand out candy during Trunk or Treat, help set up to get ready for the event on Sunday afternoon, or help during the event. Email Amber Elder, amber@northviewcc.com, to volunteer.

Also, we want to reach out into our community and invite them to experience what Northview is all about at Trunk or Treat. Join us this Saturday, Oct. 30th at 9 am, as we canvas the Harvest Hills neighborhood. We will meet at Harvest Hills Park located at 8201 NW 104th Street. On Sunday, at 5:00 pm, join us in the Northview Parking Lot for a prayer walk.

I can't wait to show the surrounding community what Northview is all about. Love God. Love Others. Serve.

Whatever our status (single, married, parent, widowed, divorced), this is the day that the Lord has made. Only when we are “fully present” in this day will we experience joy and gladness.
